Federal Parliament has officially shut up shop for 2019, following what has been a year jam-packed with drama, surprise and intrigue.
The final two weeks of parliamentary sittings did not disappoint on that front with votes cast for the ensuring integrity and medevac repeal bills – two hotly debated issues.
Canberra’s response to the drought will remain a key political issue, irrespective of policy initiatives, until rural areas once again begin to receive enough rain.
Other items on the agenda for the Government in the New Year include religious discrimination legislation, a review of industrial relations awards, achieving a budget surplus and ensuring that a sluggish economy rebounds in 2020.
