At this time of the year, for the past three years, the SAS Group event management team is usually busy gearing up for one of the biggest annual breakfasts in Queensland.
The Rural Press Club Ekka Breakfast has established itself as a “must-attend’’ Ekka event, becoming the largest annual gathering of its type in Queensland, with around 800 people generally attending.
This year of course, we’re not preparing for our Ekka Breakfast in the usual way, due to COVID-19 restrictions and the cancellation of the 2020 Royal Queensland Show.
Even though members and guests cannot physically meet for breakfast at the RNA Showgrounds, the RPC has turned potential adversity to opportunity by bringing a leading international speaker to this important forum via an online platform.
Members and guests can join the RPC on Thursday, August 6, to hear from Marty Smith, President of the National Cattlemen’s Beef Association (NCBA).
The NCBA is one of the United States’ most powerful farm advocacy groups, representing more than one million farmers and ranchers, and is the largest segment of the US food and fiber industry.
A rancher from Florida and respected attorney, Marty will speak about the US recovery from the COVID-19 crisis and his role in leading the organisation through this difficult period. From processing plant shutdowns to international trade difficulties and working with the Trump administration, Marty will speak openly about the challenges, truths and opportunities which have emerged – and what this means for both the US and Australia on the global beef stage.
In keeping with tradition, the RPC will still offer a lucky “online’’ door prize of a sought-after Kent Saddlery Business Class Briefcase (value $1350).
SAS Group Event Manager Ashleigh Nolan has been busy the past couple of weeks taking registrations and organising the webinar behind the scenes (or in front of a computer) to ensure this year’s Ekka Breakfast lives up to its reputation.
If you would like to attend this event, please visit the RPC’s website (https://www.ruralpressclub.com.au/events) to secure a ticket.
